Pilgrim Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund
Amperage
Pilgrim congregation was founded in 1929 to minister to the growing suburban area west of Milwaukee. While many changes have taken place since then, we currently, under God’s blessing, offer Word and Sacrament ministry to 200 souls and operate a Day Care center serving about 80 children, infants through 4k. Since 2012 we have been in partnership with Lutheran Urban Mission Initiative (LUMIN) operating a Wisconsin Choice school serving 250 students in grades 5k – 8 in our former school building, which was refurbished for this purpose over a three year period. In addition, Pilgrim seeks to reach out to our neighborhood, supports 2 missionary families (Mongolia and Indonesia), and is a member of the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee, supporting the education of high school students at three LCMS high schools in our area. We are an aging congregation and therefore have established an endowment fund for future assistance in maintaining the ministries named above. At the same time, we are excited that several younger families have joined Pilgrim over the past five years, allowing us to look forward to a continued ministry of outreach with the Gospel in our eastern Wauwatosa area.
LUMIN provides safe, Christian schools focused on educational success, leadership development and spiritual growth; and has set the standard for effective, Christ-centered, results oriented urban education. Under God’s provision, we have developed a network of Christian schools that shares resources and expertise.
Our network of schools enjoys system-wide accreditation by AdvancEd, National Lutheran Schools and Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools.
LUMIN Schools are partner schools of Center for Urban Teaching, Partners Advancing Values in Education (PAVE) and Schools That Can Milwaukee.
