Lutheran Legacy Foundation was started by The Clara & Spencer Werner Foundation. The Werner Foundation is now a donor-advised fund inside Lutheran Legacy Foundation. The Werner Fund’s primary giving emphasis is targeted at helping Lutheran churches, schools and organizations start their own endowment.
Below is a list of endowment matching grants that may be requested from The Werner Fund:
- $5,000 “Endowment Starter Grant” from The Werner Fund added to an investment of $10,000 or more by the ministry/organization, resulting in an initial endowment of at least $15,000.
- For investments made by the ministry/organization of $50,000 to $500,000, a proposal may be submitted to The Werner Fund for a 20 percent match.
- For organizations wishing to start an endowment with an initial balance of $1 million, a matching gift may be requested from The Werner Fund of $100,000 the first year, $50,000 the second year and $25,000 the third year.
- Matching gifts are subject to a withdrawal policy
